Spaghetti & Meatballs

Eve and Naomi have turned a corner in playing well together. It is a delight to watch them interact peacefully and just having a genuine good time together.
They often decide together what activity they'll pursue. This photo is of some spaghetti and meatballs they made when they were sitting together at the craft table. They also decide which songs to sing in the car and just how their imagination play will play out ahead of time. Those are pretty funny conversations to listen in on.

"Then Rapunzel sings a song"
"No, she's hungry so she has to have lunch."
"OK. She likes tacos so she can have tacos for lunch. And after lunch she has to get ready for the wedding.
"Oh yeah, she should wear her purple dress and a crown!"
"Yeah, and Princess Leia buns!"
"She's gonna marry Prince Eric so Ariel has to come, too."
"Oh yeah, he's supposed to marry Ariel . . . It's OK - It's just pretend."
"Prince Eric should marry all the princesses."
"Yeah! Let's get them all ready for the wedding!"

Painting

We had a nice quiet morning earlier this week. The girls painted while I worked away closing the business books and wrapping up our personal budget for 2009.

Here are some pictures:

Naomi ponders her soggy Tigger

The primary object in Eve's painting looked like a face to me, an airplane to Daddy, but was actually a bush with pears on it.

Naomi isn't as excited about her watercolor as Mom. Clearly.

Eve's colorful hands which she did all by herself.

We are so thankful for all the great art supplies the girls get to experiment with!

Plastic Lunchmeat Containers

I am making alphabet sound boxes for the girls' learning times. I am using those small plastic boxes the lunchmeat comes in, but I only have about 10. If anyone has one or more they can part with, we would welcome them! The boxes measure around 4.5" x 6" x 3"deep. Brand doesn't matter - they're all about the same size. Thanks!

Card-making

Eve is on a new kick of making cards for people, putting them in envelopes, and walking them to the post office herself. We just got her a cool new squeezable glue stick and she is all about finding "fancy" stuff to glue onto cards. She cuts up magazines finding earrings & flowers. She asks me for ribbons, lace, and craft feathers. She is so into the glue, it's like she has forgotten that she also likes to paint, use stickers, and draw pictures. All of this to say that you shouldn't be surprised if you receive an Eve creation sometime. She seems to be producing these en masse and doesn't appear to be slowing.

Craft Time

Both of the girls love craft time. Here you can see Naomi concentrating intensely on pressing her stamp onto the page. We found a variety of stamp pads at The Dollar Tree for, you guessed it, $1.00 each. Unfortunately they don't clean up as easily as our washable markers and a set of washable, self-inking stamps that Grandma Janet gave us. That's just part of the fun.
You'll also note Naomi's crown - the latest in her head covering choices.
